HOMONYMS STEMMING FROM THE SEMANTIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE WORD

Abstract

The sound side of the language lags behind change in its content. As a result, the number of different values of the same word increases. Over time, the individual meanings of the word are increasingly different, gradually losing the connection between them, as a result of the decay of the multi-digit word, which leads to the appearance of homonyms. The lexical meanings of such words do not remain unchanged; they develop. The reason for this process lies in the change of the reflected language of life, in the development of human thinking and consciousness.
