STUDY ON THE ENVIRONMENTAL POSITIONING OF LODGING COMPANIES IN THE HISTORIC CENTER OF PARATY – RJ

Abstract

RESUMO: O presente texto é resultado de uma pesquisa sobre o Turismo e a questão ambiental nos meios de hospedagem localizados no Centro Histórico de Paraty – RJ. A sua elaboração ocorreu a partir da reflexão sobre as problemáticas causadas pelos meios de hospedagem, equipamentos estes essenciais ao turismo, mas que provocam impactos ambientais negativos. O objetivo foi compreender o posicionamento dos meios de hospedagem, especificamente das pousadas do Centro Histórico no que se refere às questões que cerceiam os aspectos ambientais. Os métodos adotados foram qualitativos e quantitativos. Para a coleta de dados realizou-se o levantamento dos equipamentos de hospedagem instalados na área de estudo, também se utilizou de questionário semiestruturado que sustentou as entrevistas nas pousadas. Concluiu-se haver por parte dos gestores das pousadas, reconhecimento sobre a importância da natureza e toda a questão ambiental para a humanidade, assim como para a prática do turismo no município de Paraty. No entanto, não há ações práticas significativas nas pousadas na perspectiva do desenvolvimento sustentável, que englobe além da dimensão econômica, as esferas ambiental e social. ABSTRACT: The present text is the result of a research on Tourism and the Socio-environmental issue in the lodging companies located in the Historic Center of Paraty - RJ. Its elaboration was based on reflection on the problems caused by accommodation facilities, equipment that is essential to tourism, but causes negative environmental impacts. The objective was to understand the positioning of the lodging companies, specifically the inns in the Historic Center with regard to issues that relate socio-environmental aspects. The methods adopted were qualitative and quantitative. For data collection, a survey of the accommodation equipment installed in the study area was carried out, a semi-structured questionnaire was also used, which supported the interviews at the inns. It was concluded that the inn managers recognized the importance of nature and the entire environmental issue for humanity, as well as for the practice of tourism in the municipality of Paraty. However, there are no significant practical actions in the inns from the perspective of sustainable development, which encompasses, in addition to the economic dimension, the environmental and social spheres.
