BOM JESUS DA LAPA: THE BAIAN CAPITAL OF FAITH – GEOGRAPHICAL ANDS HISTORICAL ASPECTS

Abstract

RESUMO: Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar a produção de sentido das Romarias do Santuário do Bom Jesus da Lapa por intermédio das estratégias de visibilidade da cidade e sua marca lugar - viés do turismo - em oposição às narrativas locais a partir dos relatos daqueles (as) que vivenciam a cidade. Essa pesquisa, de âmbito doutoral, descreve a cidade de Bom Jesus da Lapa (aspectos geográficos, sociais, econômicos), bem como o Santuário (desde sua descoberta até a atualidade). A reflexão sobre desenvolvimento aqui é apresentada de forma não linear e toma como referência Furtado (1974) e Krenak (2019). Para tanto, analisa como se deu o povoamento da cidade e observa seus indicadores econômicos e sociais do município, assim como as transformações ocorridas no espaço geográfico por conta das Romarias. ABSTRACT: This article aims to analyze the production of meaning of the Pilgrimages of the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus da Lapa through the strategies of visibility of the city and its brand place - tourism bias - as opposed to local narratives from the reports of those who experience the city. This doctoral research describes the city of Bom Jesus da Lapa (geographical, social, economic aspects), as well as the Sanctuary (from its discovery to the present). The reflection on development here is presented in a non-linear way and takes as reference Furtado (1974) and Krenak (2019). To do so, it analyzes how the settlement of the city took place and observes its economic and social indicators of the municipality, as well as the transformations that occurred in the geographical space due to the Pilgrimages.
