NEUTRAL BATHROOMS: A DISCUSSION ABOUT THE TOURISM AND HOTEL SECTOR

Abstract

RESUMO: O debate em torno dos banheiros neutros é uma questão complexa que abrange aspectos constitucionais, bioéticos e filosóficos, com relevância significativa no contexto do turismo, onde a inclusão e a igualdade de direitos são cada vez mais valorizadas. Este artigo explora a interseção entre banheiros neutros em locais turísticos e hotéis, buscando entender como essa abordagem pode promover a inclusão de maneira eficaz. Os resultados evidenciam que a criação de banheiros neutros é uma alternativa inclusiva que elimina a segregação e promove um ambiente acolhedor para a comunidade LGBTQIAP+. No entanto, alguns críticos argumentam que isso pode ser interpretado como segregação ou estímulo à homofobia, defendendo a criação de espaços onde as diferenças sejam aceitas e respeitadas por todos. ABSTRACT: The debate surrounding neutral bathrooms is a complex issue that covers constitutional, bioethical and philosophical aspects, with significant relevance in the context of tourism, where inclusion and equal rights are increasingly valued. This article explores the intersection between gender-neutral bathrooms in tourist sites and hotels, seeking to understand how this approach can effectively promote inclusion. The results show that the creation of neutral bathrooms is an inclusive alternative that eliminates segregation and promotes a welcoming environment for the LGBTQIAP+ community. However, some critics argue that this could be interpreted as segregation or encouraging homophobia, advocating the creation of spaces where differences are accepted and respected by all.
